Acadian Flycatcher  Empidonax virescens
Acadian Flycatcher  Empidonax virescens

It is the largest and greenest of all the North American Empidonax flycatchers, and has the largest bill.  It is the only breeding Empidonax in most of the south; as its range extends through the eastern U.S. north to the Great Lakes and southern New England.
It forages for insects flying from a perch from mid levels of mature deciduous forests, ravines and stream sides and often nests in beech trees.  It has a hovering technique to catch prey and also has the ability to fly backwards.
