Common Yellowthroat Warbler Geothlypis trichas

The Common Yellowthroat Warbler is one of the best known and common warblers preferring marshes and damp thickets and woodland habitat. It generally nests on tussocks of briars, weeds, grasses, shrubs and cattails usually less than three feet from the ground. The young will depend on parental care longer than most warblers.

Although widespread and common, they are declining as many regions are draining marshes and other good habitat. They also are victim to parasitism from cowbirds.
