House Wren
Troglodytes aedon

The House Wren has one of the largest ranges of any songbird in the New World.  It breeds from Canada, through the West Indies, through Central America, southward to the southernmost point of South America.  It is a familiar bird of suburban back yards and uses nest boxes frequently. It will take over all the bird houses in its general vicinity, keeping other species from using them and will puncture the eggs of other birds using nest boxes.
A very active and inquisitive bird it forages for mainly insects in dense vegetation at various levels of open and semi-open habitats.
