Prairie Warbler   Dendroica discolor
Prairie Warbler
Dendroica discolor

The Prairie Warbler prefers to breed in semi-open habitats of young second growth scrub and densely overgrown fields in the eastern U.S.  Although insects are the mainstay diet of most warblers, the Prairie Warbler feeds its young mostly caterpillars and often produces two broods per season.
Very few nest north of Ohio but I have photographed some first fall migrants in early September at Headlands State Park in Mentor, Ohio
